Hi. My Name Is…

Where did your name come from?

YES! YES! YES! Y’all, if I had 10 pence for every time I’ve been asked this regarding my legal name, I wouldn’t be worrying about paying my Rent. Facts.

Hi. My name is Aviva.

It’s pronounced ahh-vee-vahh 🙄😂 (sorry, lifelong habit)

It means

SPRINGTIME (which I find personally comical seeing as my birthday is in the middle of the summer.)

Origin:

A female personal name, a feminized transcription of the Hebrew Aviv meaning, quite literally. “spring, springtime:” incidentally. the famous modern Israeli city of Tel Aviv, founded in 1909, was so-named “Hill of Spring” as a symbol of renewal;

Historic:

Just as English speakers have long used the seasons as female given names (e.g. Autumn, Summer), such “nature names” have also been adopted in the Hebrew language as evidenced by the growing popularity of Aviv “spring” and Stav “autumn” in Israel; because Aviv is used with gender-neutrality, it is often appended with the Hebrew letter n as a suffix to indicate female; while Aviv(a) has a history of being given to babies born in springtime. it is also used metaphorically as an expression of hope symbolized by spring: that the name bearer will be blessed with a blossoming, flourishing and thriving life:

Usage: by the early 21st century. Aviva was discovered and adopted beyond the borders of Israel and is now found occasionally throughout the English speaking world.

Let me know in the comments what you think! I love reading the comments and interacting with my readers.

Have a great day.
