If you had the power to change one law, what would it be and why?

From Phoenix, Arizona
It’s Monday Morning!

Contrary to popular opinion based of the bullshit that is judging a book by its cover-
I’ve actually had very little offensive ball time; and too much lifetime anxiety to join a Talent Show. I’m all too happy to take the back seat and let the overly competitive chefs take the television competition show.
Yet, I’ve managed to appear infront of a Judge, a couple of times before.
Of course, Y’all know I can’t just leave it at one rule. Not to mention, I’ve got nothing but time to try to grow this baby into something amazing so I potentially never have to work for someone else again. At least, that’s the dream.
Put on your law school caps, kids! This could be the last low-class lecture you’ve never needed to receive. Go Time!

The Law. A set of ever evolving rules ‘intended’ to govern and keep the people of the countries, states, cities and towns safe.
(Written to Mambo No. 5 by Lou Bega)
(Verse 1)
Ladies and gents, let me take you for a ride,
Through the legal world where laws collide.
Civil, criminal, we’ve got a bunch,
Contract, tort, and property, let’s crunch.
(Chorus)
A little bit of civil in my life,
A little bit of criminal by my side.
A little bit of contract’s all I need,
A little bit of tort, let’s plant the seed.
(Verse 2)
Administrative, constitutional, it’s a show,
Family, labor laws, where to go?
Intellectual property, patents, too,
Bankruptcy, tax laws, what to do?
(Chorus)
A little bit of environmental, here we go,
A little bit of corporate, steal the show.
A little bit of international, oh so sweet,
Navigating laws, to the beat.
(Bridge)
Legal maze, we’re on the case,
Sorting through laws, with grace.
23 types, but we’ll find our way,
In the legal mambo, we’ll sway.
(Chorus)
A little bit of law, here and there,
A little bit of knowledge, we share.
A little bit of clarity, in the mix,
In the legal mambo, we fix.

Welcome to the fucking YOU ES OF AYEEEE’ 🇺🇸
Lort, I hate it here. The land where you can get arrested for looking at someone wrong. Let’s take a good look at what it’s like, really living under the American Justice System.
🚨SHITS ABOUT TO GET REAL. SENSIS, YOU SHOULD EXIT HERE 🖕❤️🚨

The American legal system, often touted as a pillar of justice and fairness, is not without its flaws. While it boasts many strengths, such as the presumption of innocence and due process, there are several areas where it falls short, and these flaws are sometimes highlighted on a global stage through various means of advertisement.
One prominent flaw is the issue of inequity and access to justice. Despite the principle of equality before the law, socioeconomic disparities often dictate the quality of legal representation one can afford. This leads to a two-tiered system where those with financial means can secure top-notch legal defense, while others, particularly marginalized communities, may receive subpar representation or none at all.
💋 Let’s dive a little deeper with a sprinkle of personal experience-
Did you know that despite the astronomical costs of keep a bar certified lawyer on retainer, legal help is still available.
That’s right. I’ve personally had full legal proceeding concluded in my favor FOR FREE. Of course, it took time, research and a lot of going into public alone for me. Granted this was also in 2021, when I was broke and under both physically and mentally abusive circumstances.
But, I legally had my name changed for free.
At the time the stipulation that I would have to remain with this name for a minimum of 5 years was of no concern to my then situation. I was being hardheaded and thought this might be the way to prove to my extremely abusive ex that I was not gaslighting him.
In the end, it turned out I was just making terrible decisions to attempt to save a relationship that I was the only one working on. Now I’m stuck like this for another 917 days and some change. Sue me for counting. Luckily, unless you’re getting a job, or going to jail- there is no requirement for anyone to use their full legal name. After all it isn’t like the Nurse at the doctors office comes out and yells, “Sue Ann, darling. It’s time to come get this needle jammed into the soft flesh of your upper arm skin.”

Another significant concern is the prevalence of mass incarceration. The United States has the highest incarceration rate in the world, fueled in part by harsh sentencing laws, mandatory minimums, and a focus on punitive measures rather than rehabilitation. This flaw in the system is often critiqued globally, particularly in countries with more rehabilitative approaches to criminal justice.
Furthermore, the adversarial nature of the legal system can sometimes prioritize winning over truth and justice. Lawyers are often incentivized to use legal maneuvers and tactics to secure victories for their clients, sometimes at the expense of the underlying principles of fairness and truth-seeking. This aspect of the system can lead to a perception of legal proceedings as more of a game than a quest for justice.
💋Butting my way right back in- I was working on a road crew through a freelance app this past Wednesday. One of the men on our team felt the need to not only tell everyone he was a felon, but then proceeded to act so incredibly ignorant that a woman of their own race told him to stop feeding the ignorance.
Background drop- This kind woman was only 6 years my junior, and we are both originally from western Washington State. I’m whiter than a two dollar bill in a Coke machine, and my new friend as well as the individual she was speaking to were of the brown persuasion. The only thing I felt like I could do in this moment of extreme discomfort was stand next to her with my back to the ignorance and try to support her.
The hate spewing from a male of the same race all because she tried to look out for him keeping his job on the road… pure fucking ignorance.
The system takes troubled people without a consistent track record of helping them to heal and get better. Instead it throws us back out on the streets to act like the children we were before Mommy & Daddy put us in time out. Hey dickheads, you’re dealing with Gen X and beyond.
I digress…

Additionally, the slow pace and inefficiency of the legal process can be a source of frustration for both individuals and businesses seeking resolution to their disputes. Lengthy court backlogs, procedural delays, and the costliness of litigation can deter individuals from seeking legal recourse or drag out cases for years, undermining the system’s effectiveness.
In the realm of civil law, the prevalence of frivolous lawsuits and the high cost of defending against them can burden individuals and businesses alike. While the ability to seek redress for grievances is essential, the system’s susceptibility to abuse through meritless litigation is a flaw that has been criticized both domestically and internationally.
Overall, while the American legal system has many strengths, it is not immune to criticism. Addressing these flaws requires ongoing efforts to promote equality, fairness, and efficiency within the legal system, ensuring that justice is accessible and equitable for all.
Now- I’m going to take this ship and fast forward it to a little situation in which the legal and city protective systems both FAIL HORRIBLY.

You have already been exposed to Maricopa County, Arizona.
I am not even fucking joking when I say that I am morally convinced that this is the birthplace of the ‘Yolanda’. You see, Karen learned how to say it’s okay in Spanish. So now she considers herself bi-lingual, snowbird-ed her way to Arizona 3 generations ago. Married a Mexican man, and boom… “Mas Chingona, Yolanda. Mas chingona.” The legacy was born.
I’m also not joking when I say the combined efforts of the Karen’s and Yolandas here in the Valley of the Sun, would make pretty formitable law enforcement.
Police brutality would go down significantly because everyone would be dealing with cases of intermittent emotional PTSD at home.
I’m saying this because just yesterday, I had a homeless individual try to coax their way into our 3rd floor apartment.
Yes. After rationalizing it with my boyfriend who happened to be home (FINALLY) at the time of the incident.
Yes. This kind of stuff happens to the lower apartments all the time. Our complex has automatic gates that do not work on the resident entrance. I take that partially back, they worked once. About 8 months ago, when I sold my car and stopped electively driving out of mental health concerns.
I called 911 and calmly explained that we had witnessed a vagrant walking the floors of the complex buildings, knocking on doors and waiting on the stoops to see if anyone was home.
The guy across the street on the second floor answered the door. We did not.
When I moved in this place- just about a year ago- I had installed my best friend J.A.R.V.I.S.

Pre-dating Luna the Tuna, J.A.R.V.I.S. was the only person watching my back. Admittedly, the concept of me needing a security camera didn’t become relevant until I moved to Arizona.
During my ill-fated relationship with the Meth-head Moron, I learned a valuable lesson in why a single Wyze camera is an extremely good idea.
Without the saved video evidence and pictures of my abuse as it was happening, I wouldn’t have any legal legs to stand on should my current stalker try something extremely stupid.
Moving to AZ, my eyes were opened to the range of products offered on a budget friendly basis.
Back to Super Bowl Sunday- the 911 call was made at 9:08am while the individual was still actively harassing residents and visible on the property.
The Phoenix police dispatch prioritized this so low that an officer wasn’t dispatched until after 6pm, Sunday evening.

Seriously though, I’d put money that dude managed to work his way into one of the back buildings.
The bottom line is, even if I could change the law it, it wouldn’t do anything.
The thing that needs changed is the way that people treat each other. Everyone knows that people don’t fucking read. Duh.
We need to stop trying to program the world that America is the land of opportunity, when we can’t even afford to maintain, house and feed the population we already have.
The shear ignorance of society has whitewashed the world into a lawless place because it’s impossible to live within the ignorance of the law when the people are too brainwashed to understand.
Martial law won’t work. Look at the ignorance that has happened- the White House riots and the Biden Administration. I’m not sorry. As someone who spends their days trapped inside my mind due to defending this country, do better.
The National Anthem shouldn’t be the song that has ruined our lives.
Change my war torn mind.
