Dearest Gentle Reader,
Can we talk about how individuals get overstimulated and it’s always mistaken for anger?
Happens to me all the time.
No, i’m not angry. i’ve just heard my name called 200 times, the tv is too loud, the dryer is going, my shirt is too tight, my hair isn’t in a messy bun correctly, there’s crumbs on the floor, the dog is licking themselves, someone is screaming outside again, and I’m cold.
I’M NOT ANGRY OR CRANKY.
I’m so overstimulated and I need a minute to get myself together because life is exhausting and no matter what.
Yet it never fails, the minute I sit down to enjoy myself I’m once again distracted.
I constantly forget to do things for myself and by the end of these days, I’d rather isolate to my room and cry in solace because I just cant take anymore.
It’s not uncommon to become overstimulated, but as adults we are programmed to point the finger and pressure each other until the overstimulation morphs into anger.
What most people do not understand when it comes to anyone on the spectrum is overstimulation occurs on our own when you have trouble focusing or organizing your thoughts.
THE LAST THING THAT IS NEEDED IS MORE PRESSURE!!!
Be kind to one another.
Everytime you set a healthy boundary, an energy vampire loses a fang.
Thank you for attending the Ted Talk. ❤️
